Priority vs SAP Business One: how to choose for an Israeli company
Both are mature ERP systems for small and mid-sized companies, and both run thousands of businesses. The choice is rarely about a feature list. It is about who will implement and support the system, how much of your business is outside Israel, and what the system needs to connect to.
In short
Priority is an Israeli product, built around Hebrew and Israeli reporting, implemented by the vendor and its partners, and available as a cloud service or self-hosted. SAP Business One is SAP's product for smaller companies, sold and implemented only through partners, with an Israeli localization and versions for many other countries, running on SQL Server or SAP HANA. A company that operates mainly in Israel will usually find Priority a more natural fit. A subsidiary of a group that already runs SAP, or a company with entities in several countries, will often find SAP Business One easier to align with headquarters. In both cases, the implementation partner matters as much as the product.
Side by side
| Question | Priority | SAP Business One |
| Who makes it | Priority Software, an Israeli company | SAP, as its product for small and mid-sized companies |
| Who implements it | The vendor itself and its partners | Certified SAP partners only |
| Hebrew and Israeli reporting | Built in from the start | Through the Israeli localization |
| Israel invoices and allocation numbers | Handled within the system, documented by the vendor | Supported through the Israeli localization, with the invoice layout set up by the partner |
| Deployment | Vendor cloud or self-hosted | On premises or hosted in a partner's cloud, on SQL Server or SAP HANA |
| Integration interfaces | REST API on OData, Web SDK, form loads | Service Layer (REST on OData), DI API for add-ons |
| Entities in other countries | Possible, check the specific country | Country versions for many markets, a common reason groups choose it |
The table describes the products, not a specific installation. What you actually get depends on the version, the modules you license, and how the partner set it up.
When Priority is usually the better fit
- Most of the business, customers and reporting are in Israel, and the finance team works in Hebrew.
- You want to work directly with the vendor, not only through a partner.
- You prefer a cloud service run by the vendor and do not want to manage servers.
- Requirements around Israel invoices and local reports matter more than alignment with a group abroad.
When SAP Business One is usually the better fit
- The company is a subsidiary of a group that already runs SAP, and headquarters wants consistent data and processes.
- There are entities in several countries, each with its own tax rules.
- You already have a trusted SAP partner, or the industry solution you need is built on SAP Business One.
- Your IT team prefers SQL Server or SAP HANA under its own control.
What to check in either case
- The partner, not just the product. Ask for two or three references from companies like yours and talk to their finance teams, not their IT teams.
- Allocation numbers. The same system that keeps the books and issues invoices must also request the allocation number from the Tax Authority. The threshold has been lowered in stages, so check the current figure with the Tax Authority, and ask to see the full process in a demo, including a failed request.
- Integrations. List everything the ERP must exchange data with: the online store, the CRM, the warehouse, the bank. Ask how each one connects and what limits the interface has. In the Priority cloud, for example, the API limits the number of calls per minute, and an integration that ignores this will fail on a busy day.
- Customization and upgrades. Every change to screens and processes has to survive a version upgrade. Ask who maintains those changes and what happens to them during an upgrade.
- The exit. How do you get all your data out if you switch systems or partners? In what format, and at what cost in time?
Where we fit in
We do not sell licenses for either system. We build what goes around them: integrations with stores, CRM and in-house systems, data migration from an old system, and the review of an integration that loses orders. When a company is choosing, we can help write the list of requirements and integrations, so the comparison between the offers is made on the same terms.
Frequently asked questions
Is Priority better than SAP Business One for an Israeli company?
Not in general. Priority is built around Hebrew and Israeli reporting and is often the more natural fit for a company that works mainly in Israel. SAP Business One often fits a subsidiary of a group that runs SAP or a company with entities abroad. The implementation partner matters as much as the product.
Do both support Israel invoices and allocation numbers?
Yes. Priority handles allocation numbers within the system and documents the process. SAP Business One supports them through its Israeli localization, with the invoice layout set up by the partner. In both cases, ask to see the full process in a demo.
Which one is easier to integrate with an online store or a CRM?
Both have modern interfaces: Priority offers a REST API on OData, and SAP Business One offers the Service Layer, also REST on OData. The difference is in licenses, limits and how the partner opened the interface, so check the specific installation.
